This 美姬社区Framework for Practice provides guidance on therapeutic hypothermia for neonatal encephalopathy. The framework covers case selection, parent / carer communication, recommendations for infants who fall outside of current criteria, investigations, network and transport implications, nursing care, prognostication, reorientation of care, follow-up, governance and future research.

美姬社区Frameworks for Practice

A 美姬社区Framework for Practice is a practical guidance document for an aspect of neonatal practice. It will be evidence based wherever possible but if evidence is not available then recommendations may be based on a professional consensus view. A framework for practice is intended as an overarching document that can be used by local units and/or networks to produce their own guidelines.

CoolCuddle

鈥淐oolCuddle鈥� is a technique developed by researchers and nurses in Bristol to enable parents cuddle their babies safely during therapeutic hypothermia and intensive care. 鈥淐oolCuddle鈥� has been investigated in 8 level 3 NICUs across England and shown to improve parent-infant bonding and does not have a clinically significant impact on the cooling process or intensive care. The instruction videos and the standard operating procedure will help to train nurses to implement the CoolCuddle in the NICUs and inform parents about the CoolCuddle. This project was funded by NIHR rfPB.
